Château de Charnesseuil

A nine-hectare estate in the Petit Morin valley, an hour from Paris. Private events, filming and stays in Seine-et-Marne.

Saint-Ouen-sur-Morin, Seine-et-Marne

A nineteenth-century estate

In the heart of the Petit Morin valley, the Château de Charnesseuil has watched over a nine-hectare landscaped park since the nineteenth century. The park was laid out in the third quarter of that century — the work is dated to 1870 — in the manner of Édouard André, one of the great landscape architects of his day: a free composition, with no imposed symmetry, in which open meadows alternate with groves around a sheet of water.

Recorded in 1996 in France's national heritage inventory, the Inventaire général du patrimoine culturel, as one of the remarkable gardens of Seine-et-Marne, the park is described there as very well preserved. It still is.

The estate is no frozen backdrop. Sport horses are schooled here throughout the year, the cottages welcome families and friends for their stays, and the park now opens its gates to private events, film shoots and photo sessions.
